Facebook has more than 750 million active users who, on average, share more than 30 billion pieces of content per month. This led us to believe that it would be a perfect place to begin our social awareness campaign. It is fun as well as useful, allowing our organisation campaign to humbly grow. The campaign began with setting up a community page allowing contributions from a variety of people, and receiving 24 likes within the first 3 days. After that it was crucial to comment on pages relevant to the safety of children in conflict zones. Some of the people we contacted include United Nations, Barack Obama (President of USA) and Save The Children.

Similarly to Facebook the campaign began with following important people, in regards to the safety and wellness of the children. We re-tweeted posts form UN News Centre, UNICEF as well as being followed by people such as Colin Bloom, the CEO of the Conservative Chrisitian Fellowship.

Fundraising
Fundraising is important as it to raises funds for needed items, services and programs. There are, unfortunately, needs of great variety all around us, and fundraising will most likely be an aspect of our lives for generations to come. But raising funds for a cause has a lot more benefits than taking care of an obvious monetary need. For example, it allows the children or to feel some pride of ownership. In many cases, the beneficiaries of funds that are raised are able to feel not as if they have received ‘charity,’ but as if they have actually earned the item or experience that the funds have provided. Fundraising has been carried out in two ways, One being an online fundraising website and another is a non-profitable souvenir shop. All proceedings will 100% be given to the organisation, as it is run by What About The Children.
GoFundMe
|
GoFundMe is a crowdfunding platform that allows people to raise money for events ranging from life events such as celebrations and graduations to challenging circumstances like accidents and illnesses. Therefore we decided that it would be a fantasitc place to start our donations! GoFundMe allows users to create their own website to describe what they are raising money for. During this process, members can enter the fundraising cause, the amount they hope to raise, and even upload photos or video. Once the website is created, GoFundMe allows users to share their project with people through integrated social network links (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and email. We created a reward level which enables individuals who donate with prizes, according to the amount of money they place.
